Dr Dan Ornadel is a Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Medicine at Northwest London Hospitals Trust (Northwick Park Hospital). He is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine. As well as practicing in respiratory medicine, Dr Ornadel has responsibilities for the acute general medical service at Northwick Park. He has been lead physician for the acute admissions unit. He developed and led the first respiratory high dependency unit at Northwick Park. He has been lead Lung Cancer Physician since 2000 and lead Respiratory Physician since 2008. His areas of interest include lung cancer, exercise-induced asthma and breathlessness in athletes, sleep apnoea, chronic cough, bronchoscopy, asthma, COPD and sarcoid. In 2009, working with Richard Budgett, Chief Medical Officer for 2012 Olympics, he developed a respiratory assessment clinic at the Olympic Medical Institute for elite athletes with breathing difficulties. He was lead Respiratory Physician at the Olympic Village Polyclinic for athletes at the London 2012 Olympics. He is honorary Respiratory Physician to the Olympic Medical Institute where he runs a regular clinic for elite athletes with breathing difficulties.
Dr Ornadel qualified at Balliol College, Oxford and St Thomas' Hospital, followed by postgraduate training at UCH/Middlesex/Whittington hospitals. After training posts in London, he was awarded a Jules Thorne Fellowship to undertake research into the molecular biology of small cell lung cancer and to study the effect of targeting treatment in lung cancer patients with monoclonal antibodies. For this work he was awarded his MD degree at London University. He was appointed consultant in 1996. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a member of the British Thoracic Society.
