    Dr Elliot Smith began his medical training at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London. He specialised in cardiology at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the London Chest Hospital. Since 2008, he has been a consultant at the Barts Heart Centre and the Royal Free Hospital in London, while also seeing patients privately at various locations.

    Dr Smith treats a wide range of general cardiology conditions, including chest pain syndromes, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmia, and valve disease. His primary interest lies in the investigation and management of coronary artery disease. As an interventional cardiologist, he performs coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention procedures. His subspecialty focuses on complex coronary interventional techniques, such as rotational atherectomy and the minimally invasive treatment of chronic total occlusions (CTOs).

    He leads the Complex Coronary Revascularisation Program at Barts and is internationally recognised for his expertise. Dr Smith frequently travels to hospitals in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East to train other cardiologists and participate in major conferences and live case demonstrations.

    His research interests include chronic total occlusions (CTO) and percutaneous haemodynamic support, which involves minimally invasive heart pumps. Dr Smith is a member of several professional societies, including the British Cardiovascular Society and the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).
