    Dr Hadi Manji is a Consultant Neurologist at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. His medical interests include general neurology, peripheral nerve disorders such as peripheral neuropathy due to diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome and Guillain-Barré (or its chronic correlate, CIDP). He has a specialist interest in peripheral nerve disorders and neurological infections including those related to HIV infection.

    Dr Manji studied medicine at Cambridge University and the Middlesex Hospital, gaining his final MB BChir in 1982. He initially trained as a GP in Edinburgh before specialising in neurology at The Middlesex, Royal Free and National Hospitals. He spent a six-month sabbatical at L'Hopital Kremlin Bicetre, Paris before being appointed Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital and the Ipswich Hospital in 1997.

    Dr Manji is active in teaching and is involved in developing a new medical school in Beira, Mozambique, which he visits for two weeks every year. He is also the Chief Author and Editor of the Oxford Handbook of Neurology which is used during their training by junior doctors and neurologists worldwide. The first edition sold 11,000 copies and the second edition is in preparation. He is the Honorary Secretary of the Association of British Neurologists. He has published papers on peripheral nerve disorders, HIV neurology and general neurology subjects including movement disorders and neuro-ophthalmology.
