He obtained his medical degree from the University of London in 1976 and completed his medical training at Middlesex Hospital in London.

    Dr Rustin is actively involved in dermatological research, with a particular focus on atopic eczema. He collaborates closely with Professor Arne Akbar from the Department of Immunology and has supervised numerous MD and PhD students. His research contributions are substantial, with over 100 published articles that have significantly advanced the field. In recognition of his achievements, University College London awarded him a personal chair in 2011.

He has served as the Academic Vice-president of the British Association of Dermatologists, President of the Section of Dermatology at the Royal Society of Medicine, and President Elect of the Dowling Club.
