Professor Onn Min Kon is a consultant respiratory physician and clinical lead for the tuberculosis and respiratory infection service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is also a professor of respiratory medicine at the National Heart & Lung Institute at Imperial College London. Professor Kon has a clinical interest in tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, and interstitial lung disease, and he specialises in interventional bronchoscopy.
Since his appointment, Professor Kon has been dedicated to advancing the field of respiratory medicine. He runs an annual intensive course in tuberculosis care for clinicians, sharing his extensive knowledge and expertise. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in clinical research, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. His research interests focus on the diagnosis of tuberculosis and the immunopathology of airway disease.
Professor Kon is the current chair of the UK National Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDRTB) clinical advice service and chairs the UK Joint Tuberculosis Committee. His leadership roles highlight his commitment to improving patient care and advancing medical knowledge in his field.
Professor Kon is proficient in a range of medical tests and treatments, including bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). He treats a variety of conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, and COVID-19/post-COVID syndromes.
