Mr Maxim Horwitz is a Consultant Hand Surgeon at the Hand Unit of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He previously served as a Consultant at the Major Trauma Centre at St Mary's Hospital, London, where he continues to provide consultations for complex injuries. Mr Horwitz collaborates closely with a team of hand therapists and fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeons.
Mr Horwitz received his education and training in South Africa and London, UK. He completed his orthopaedics and trauma training in London before travelling to Sydney, Australia, as the Pulvertaft Fellow of the British Society of Hand Surgery. He further specialised in children's hand conditions during a fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Additionally, he undertook an AO fellowship in trauma in Salzburg, Austria, where he trained in advanced techniques for managing complex hand and upper limb trauma, wrist and hand arthritis, congenital hand deformities, complex nerve injuries, and microsurgery. His interests also include managing hand and upper limb conditions in children with cerebral palsy.
Mr Horwitz has been awarded the BSSH postgraduate diploma in hand surgery and is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association. He has contributed to numerous book chapters and scientific papers on hand surgery.
