Mr Gordon Muir is a London-based Consultant Urological Surgeon, renowned for his expertise in minimally invasive treatments for urological cancer, male urinary symptoms, including incontinence, male sexual dysfunction, and fertility issues. He has been serving at King's College Hospital in London since 1996 and holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at King’s College London.
Mr Muir graduated with a medical degree from the University of Glasgow in 1984. Following a stint in the army, he pursued postgraduate specialty training in surgery and urology at St George's Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. His training also included international experience in France, Italy, Egypt, and the USA.
A pioneer in his field, Mr Muir has significantly contributed to research and publications on urological cancer, erectile dysfunction, surgical training, and laser prostatectomy. He is credited with developing and describing several standard procedures, such as laser prostatectomy and frenuloplasty, aimed at minimising side effects in the treatment of prostate problems and erectile and fertility issues.
Mr Muir is actively involved in teaching and training other specialists globally. He regularly leads training courses and has held visiting professorships in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the USA, sharing his knowledge through lectures worldwide. His dedication to advancing urological care and education has made him a respected figure in the medical community.
