Professor Gus Alusi is a renowned Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon based in London. He has dedicated his career to advancing the field of ENT through both clinical practice and research. His significant contributions to image-guided surgery were recognised by the University of Leicester, which awarded him a PhD.
Professor Alusi became a consultant in 2000 after completing his general training at some of London's most prestigious hospitals, including The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital, and The Royal Marsden Hospital.
He manages all adult and paediatric general ear, nose, and throat conditions, with a special interest in complex head and neck surgery. As a senior surgeon within the Head and Neck Unit at St Barts and The London NHS Trust, he specialises in thyroid surgery, complex sinus surgery, and rhinoplasties.
In addition to his role as a Consultant in ENT, Professor Alusi is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Cancer at St Barts and The London. He is deeply involved in the education of surgical trainees completing postgraduate degrees, collaborating with the Institute of Cancer Research Fund. This collaboration has resulted in a substantial body of publications in leading medical journals.
Professor Alusi is also interested in the use of oncolytic viruses for cancer treatment and gene therapy, focusing on gene delivery and the identification of new therapeutic options.
