Frequently asked questions
What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?
In terms of patients who come with shoulder conditions, they tend to struggle with pain or stiffness, difficulty laying on their shoulders, or sometimes weakness or inability to lift their arm.
In terms of elbow conditions, patients can often come with problems such as pain around the elbow, clicking or stiffness and sometimes pins and needles in the hands.
What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?
In clinic, we're able to offer steroid injections around the shoulder where necessary.
In terms of surgical intervention, we're able to offer keyhole surgery to both the shoulder and elbow; and open surgery to the clavicle, shoulder, elbow and wrist as well as carpal tunnel surgery.
I also have an interest in providing awake shoulder and elbow surgery under regional anaesthesia. For patients who have medical problems or fears around general anaesthetic, my anaesthetic team and I specialise in providing surgery under regional anaesthesia where patients can be awake during their operation to avoid the risks of general anaesthetic and have a faster recovery.
What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?
I'm a fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow surgeon. I have interests in both trauma and elective conditions affecting the clavicle, shoulder, elbow, distal radius fractures and carpal tunnel syndrome.
