One of the first to set up and run photodynamic therapy in London teaching hospitals, Dr Natasha Kapur serves as the Clinical Lead for her NHS department at The Whittington Hospital and is committed to providing good dermatological care in the NHS. She also forms part of the specialist dermatology service, London Dermatology Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth. In addition to general dermatology, she has a particular interest in paediatric dermatology.
After qualifying from Charing Cross and Westminster in 1992, Dr Kapur has been working in London teaching hospitals including St Mary’s, The Brompton, St John’s Institute of Dermatology at St Thomas’, Royal Free and UCH. A recipient of the Geoffrey Dowling Fellowship from the British Association of Dermatologist, she pursued research from the University Hospital, Bern, Switzerland, focusing on photodynamic therapy, which is a non-surgical way to treat certain premalignant and malignant skin cancers.
Dr Kapur helped set up and run a weekly community dermatology service at The Whittington Hospital. She is also the joint teaching lead for dermatology in UCL. She has presented cases at International seminars, and has written many book chapters and scientific papers. She has contributed to commercial and non- commercial trials in photodynamic therapy, actinic keratosis, psoriasis, bullous pemphigoid and eczema.
