About Mr Joshua Lee
GMC number: 4629696
Year qualified: 1999
Place of primary qualification: University of Bristol
Mr Joshua Lee is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Royal London Hospital where he specialises in the treatment of hip and knee conditions, from sports injuries to joint replacement. He has a special interest in arthroscopic and minimally invasive, tissue sparing surgery. He is trained in the cutting-edge techniques in hip and knee surgery, including arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and minimally-invasive, tissue-sparing anterior approach surgery for hip replacements. He also provides a tertiary referral service for complex knee ligament injuries. He believes that the need for surgery can be minimized with rapid and accurate diagnosis.
Mr Lee spent a year in research at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, investigating the long-term wear properties of total knee replacements. He completed his Orthopaedic Training on the North West Thames rotation in West London. He then gained the competitive Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at The Ottawa Hospital in Canada where, working with world renowned surgeon Dr Paul Beaulé, he developed an interest in hip joint preservation surgery and tissue sparing hip joint replacement surgery. He also completed fellowship training in Major Trauma at St Mary’s Hospital in London. He was then appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Barts and The Royal London Hospital.
Aside from undertaking all aspects of hip and knee surgery, Mr Lee also trains the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. He is actively involved in research and has presented papers at both national and international conferences. He set up and runs the Orthopaedics Simulation Centre at The Royal London Hospital.
