Mr Jonathan Bird is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon based in London, with a special interest in knee surgery. He qualified from the UCL School of Medicine in 1997. During his time at UCL, Mr Bird joined the British Army, where he gained invaluable experience treating both soldiers and Iraqi civilians affected by conflict. He served in the army until 2004.
After leaving the military, Mr Bird pursued further specialised orthopaedic training in London. In 2004, he took up his current NHS post at University Hospital Lewisham, where he is the leading knee surgeon and the initiator of the Acute Knee Service. In addition to his clinical duties, he also leads undergraduate medical students at King’s College.
Mr Bird is committed to continually improving his orthopaedic practice. He regularly attends conferences and stays updated on the latest therapies and techniques to provide the best care for his patients. His expertise allows him to treat a wide range of knee conditions, from injuries sustained by elite athletes to chronic pain caused by arthritis.
