About Mr Arfan Malhi
GMC number: 4536501
Year qualified: 1998
Place of primary qualification: University of London
Mr Arfan Malhi is a highly qualified and experienced orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. He completed his basic surgical training on the Kings College Hospital rotation and undertook a research post at the Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust. He then advanced his orthopaedic surgical training on the UCLH/Middlesex rotation.
Mr Malhi further honed his skills through a near year-long fellowship at the University of Manitoba Joint Replacement Group in Canada, a high-volume centre where over 1400 joint replacements are performed annually. He has a particular interest in arthroplasty for high body mass index (BMI) patients and has presented internationally on this topic in Europe and North America.
Throughout his career, Mr Malhi has worked in several NHS Trusts, including University College Hospital London and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. At these institutions, he established a busy practice in hip and knee arthroplasty, with a sub-specialty interest in revision surgery, while also maintaining a trauma practice. He quickly assumed leadership roles within the Trusts, including Trauma Lead, Arthroplasty Lead, and Clinical Lead for Trauma & Orthopaedics at University Hospital Lewisham.
In 2018, Mr Malhi moved to his current post at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. His extensive qualifications and experience make him a highly respected and sought-after orthopaedic surgeon in the field of joint replacement and revision surgery.
