Dr Diana Holdright is a highly esteemed consultant cardiologist with a comprehensive clinical practice that covers all aspects of adult cardiology. She specialises in the management of ischaemic heart disease, including angina and heart attacks, and is an expert in percutaneous coronary intervention, such as coronary angioplasty and stenting, as well as coronary artery bypass grafting. Dr Holdright has a profound interest in the heart:brain interface, valvular heart disease, heart failure, and the treatment of heart rhythm disorders like atrial fibrillation. She is also dedicated to cardiovascular risk factor assessment and has a particular focus on autonomic dysfunction and multidisciplinary conditions such as PoTS.
Dr Holdright played a pivotal role in establishing coronary angioplasty as the first-line treatment for myocardial infarction, which led to the creation of Heart Attack Centres across London and the UK. Her extensive experience includes her tenure as a cardiologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, where she managed conditions such as blackouts, dizzy spells, cardiac causes of stroke, and assessed cardiac risk in epilepsy.
Dr Holdright earned her medical degree from University College London (UCL) in 1984, following a BSc in Human Genetics obtained three years earlier. She completed her postgraduate cardiology training at several prestigious London hospitals, including The National Heart Hospital, The London Chest Hospital, The Royal Brompton Hospital, and UCL Hospitals.
Since 1997, Dr Holdright has been a consultant cardiologist and has over 15 years of experience running her own private practice. Her areas of expertise include the treatment of atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias, hypertension, high cholesterol, palpitations, dizzy spells, blackouts, breathlessness, chest pain, and heart attacks. She is also proficient in screening, the role of angioplasty and bypass surgery, valve disease, heart failure, cardiac causes of stroke, and the heart:brain interface.
