Professor Steve Pereira is a distinguished consultant at University College Hospital since 2000 and at Royal Free Hospital since 2008. He is also a Professor of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at UCL. His clinical and research interests are centred on the causes, early diagnosis, and treatment of liver and pancreatic cancer, as well as benign biliary and pancreatic diseases. These areas represent a significant number of patients referred for specialist opinion to UCLH, and his research group’s activities are closely linked with the clinical hepatopancreaticobiliary service at UCLH and the Royal Free.
Professor Pereira has held notable positions such as past Chairman of the British Society of Gastroenterology Pancreatic Section and President of the Pancreatic Society of GB&I. He currently serves as the Endoscopy lead on the HPB Board of London Cancer and is a member of the research committees of the British Society of Gastroenterology and Guts UK.
His expertise includes procedures like endoscopic-ultrasound guided gastrojejunostomy, BRAVO pH testing, colonoscopy, ERCP, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and gastroscopy. He treats conditions such as sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, pancreatic cysts, and hepato pancreato-biliary cancers. In his spare time, he enjoys focusing on fitness and spending time with his family.
