  • About Dr Sean White

    GMC number: 3284016

    Year qualified: 1988

Place of primary qualification: University of London

Sean's primary training was in anaesthesia acquiring his full qualification at the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He then enrolled, as the first accepted candidate in the newly established North London Pain Medicine Fellowship. As a qualified Consultant, he worked within two NHS trust hospitals, latterly St Bartholomew's and the London NHS Trust. Subsequently Sean was invited to become a Fellow of the faculty of Pain Medicine Royal College of Anaesthetists, due to his experience and previous qualifications. His most recent qualification is as a Fellow in Pain Practice, which is a fully independent and internationally recognised qualification under the auspices of the World Institute of Pain (WIP). He has also been invited to regularly teach on a WIP course, lecturing and demonstrating interventional techniques to enhance the training of junior colleagues in his chosen areas of medical experience.

Sean has been a dedicated Pain Medicine specialist for over 12 years, and enjoys working with his colleagues from many disciplines. The bulk of his clinical practice revolves around the non-surgical treatment of spinal and joint-related pain. However, he has a particular interest in dealing with complex pain syndromes generated by multiple mechanisms. This covers a broad range of areas from post-trauma, cancer and neuropathic pain, where nerve damage has occurred. He uses a range of techniques addressing both physical and emotional aspects of pain. Sean's approach is aimed at not only controlling and removing pain, but also to ensure the necessary lifestyle changes are made to prevent recurrence and to improve each patients' health globally, with an holistic approach.

When not working, Sean is a long suffering Arsenal FC fan. He also enjoys a spot of wine-tasting. Clearly the two past-times have a logical and desirable linkage.
