Dr Roger Wolman is a highly esteemed Consultant in Rheumatology and Sports and Exercise Medicine, based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. He also offers private practice services in central and north-west London.
Dr Wolman began his medical journey at the University of Manchester, where he attended medical school. He completed his general medical training in London, followed by specialist training in Rheumatology, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Sports and Exercise Medicine. During this period, he earned a Medical Doctorate on Exercise and Osteoporosis from the University of Manchester. Additionally, he was awarded the prestigious Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship, which allowed him to study sports and exercise medicine in North America.
In 1994, Dr Wolman was appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He also became the first Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine within the NHS. He holds specialist accreditation in Rheumatology, Sports & Exercise Medicine, and Rehabilitation Medicine.
Dr Wolman is a member of several professional organisations, including the Royal College of Physicians, the British Society for Rheumatology, the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine, the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, the British Medical Association, and the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science.
Dr Wolman’s areas of expertise include joint injections, soft tissue injections, shockwave therapy, and ultrasound scanning. He treats a wide range of conditions such as back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, hypermobility (18+), knee pain, foot and ankle pain, hip pain, shoulder pain, sports injuries, dance injuries, and sports injuries in children aged 12 and over. He is also proficient in managing tendinopathy, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), and prescribing exercise for the management of chronic diseases. Additionally, he is involved in the rehabilitation and recovery of patients from COVID-19.
