Dr Amin is a highly respected consultant in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes, currently serving at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and the Institute of Child Health (ICH). He completed his medical degree at Leeds University in 1991 and subsequently trained in paediatric medicine in London by 1996. Dr Amin further specialised in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes, completing his training in London and Oxford in 2004.
Dr Amin's areas of expertise include the management of type 1 diabetes, growth disorders, and hormonal imbalances in children. He is particularly passionate about medical research, having been awarded an MD with commendation from Cambridge University in 2006 for his work on the hormonal determinants of microvascular disease in type 1 diabetes.
In 2005, Dr Amin was appointed as a Consultant in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. He later joined St Barts and the London Hospitals in 2010 before taking on his current role as a consultant and honorary senior lecturer at GOSH and ICH in 2012.
Dr Amin is an active member of several professional organisations, including the British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (BSPED) and the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology. He serves as the diabetes officer for BSPED and is involved in the National Diabetes Audit Dataset Working Group and the BSPED Clinical Trials Study Group. Additionally, he has contributed to the scoping group for updating the NICE Guidance for Diabetes in Pregnancy.
Throughout his career, Dr Amin has been invited to speak at numerous national and international conferences and has received multiple awards for his contributions to paediatric endocrinology and diabetes. His dedication to advancing medical research and improving patient care continues to make a significant impact in his field.
