Mr. Rajab Kerwat is a Consultant General Surgeon at Lewisham and Greenwich Trust. He also performs private work at London Bridge Hospital and HCA UK at The Shard. He has a special interest in upper gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Mr. Kerwat qualified from Alfateh University Medical School, Tripoli, Libya in 1988. He completed comprehensive surgical training over twelve years in London, Cardiff, and Tokyo. He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 2001 at Queen Mary's Hospital.
Mr. Kerwat has extensive experience in laparoscopic cholecystectomy and has published several articles on the topic. He combines keyhole (laparoscopic) and endoscopic ERCP skills to manage complicated gall bladder and bile duct stones in patients with jaundice, cholangitis, and pancreatitis.
In his NHS and private practice, Mr. Kerwat provides advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures, including laparoscopic splenectomy, abdominal, groin, and incisional hernia repair. He also offers laparoscopic hiatus hernia repair surgery for primary and recurrent reflux disease (GORD) and giant hiatus hernia. Additionally, he performs single incision laparoscopic abdominal surgery (SILS) for cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendicectomy, and right hemicolectomy.
Mr. Kerwat is a recognised trainer in general and laparoscopic surgery for junior doctors in the Foundation Training Programme and Specialty Higher Surgical Training Programme. He also trains at The Royal College of Surgeons Laparoscopic training course programme.
Since qualifying, Mr. Kerwat has been dedicated to providing high-quality, clinically effective, and safe care with a positive patient experience. He continuously develops his academic and technical skills to maintain the highest standards in his practice.
