Professor Melvin Lobo is a highly accomplished consultant cardiovascular physician, specialising in blood pressure disorders, autonomic control of circulation, and resistant hypertension. He is based at the Bart's Heart Centre and the William Harvey Research Institute, where he serves as the director of the Bart's Blood Pressure Clinic, a Hypertension Centre of Excellence.

Professor Lobo is a recognised expert in managing low blood pressure (hypotension), blood pressure variability disorders, and postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS). He oversees the largest cohort of medication-intolerant patients in the UK and has developed specialised strategies using liquid and patch formulations of antihypertensives to address tablet intolerances.

Accredited by the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and the British Hypertension Society, Professor Lobo is a clinical hypertension specialist. He serves as a specialist adviser to NICE and the European Society of Hypertension on interventional therapies in hypertension. Additionally, he is a member of the Council on Hypertension of the European Society of Cardiology.

Professor Lobo has contributed to several landmark studies in hypertension, particularly in the field of novel device therapy. His research has been featured on television and in the national press multiple times. He is a globally recognised key opinion leader, holding numerous roles in multicentre clinical trials, delivering invited lectures at major conferences, and maintaining editorial positions in prestigious journals such as JACC and Lancet.

Appointed in 2000, Professor Lobo continues to advance the field of hypertension through his clinical practice, research, and leadership roles. His interests include developing innovative treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes in blood pressure management.
