    Prof. Heather Payne is a consultant clinical oncologist, specialising in urological and prostate cancer at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust. She also sees patients privately at The Harley Street Clinic and The Prostate Centre.

    Prof. Payne trained at St Mary’s Hospital and, after qualifying, spent time in general medicine in London and Haiti. Upon her return to London, she trained as a clinical oncologist and developed a keen interest in urological oncology.

    In addition to her clinical work, Prof. Payne is actively involved in research. She has pioneered a programme of high-dose rate brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Her current research interests include hormone therapy, sensitisation of hormones and radiotherapy, predictive indices for bowel toxicity with radiotherapy, proton beam therapy for prostate cancer, chemotherapy, and assisting men with decision-making in prostate cancer.

    Prof. Payne is the principal investigator in several international and national studies and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. She is the chair of the British Uro-oncology Group and the oncology lead for the National Prostate Cancer Audit. Additionally, she serves on the Prostate Cancer Advisory Group for the UK.

    Her expertise includes a range of diseases, medical tests, and treatments such as external beam radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy/rapid arc, low-dose brachytherapy, hormone treatment, novel hormone therapy, and chemotherapy. Prof. Payne has been with University College London Hospitals NHS Trust since her appointment and continues to contribute significantly to the field of oncology.
