Place of primary qualification: University of London

Professor Gerald Carr-White is a distinguished consultant cardiologist based in London. He has been a pivotal figure in the field of cardiology, specialising in heart failure, inherited cardiac diseases, and general cardiology, including the assessment of palpitations, chest pain, and valvular heart disease. Since his appointment in 2006, he has been instrumental in advancing cardiac care at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust, where he currently serves as the medical director of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and critical care unit.

Professor Carr-White's extensive training began at St George’s Hospital, where he graduated with honours in Medicine from the University of London. He further honed his expertise in general medicine at the Brompton, Hammersmith, and St Mary’s hospitals, becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1996. His academic journey continued with a PhD in the mechanics of ventricular function from the Brompton Hospital in 2000, under the mentorship of Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub and Dr Derek Gibson.

In addition to his clinical roles, Professor Carr-White is a Professor in heart failure and inherited diseases at King's College London. He is actively involved in research, having published over 120 peer-reviewed articles and secured over £7 million in research grants. His work primarily focuses on heart failure, inherited cardiac diseases, cardiac imaging, and valve disease.

Professor Carr-White is also the vice president of Cardiomyopathy UK and an elected member of the national association of inherited cardiac diseases.
