Dr Deane Halfpenny is a consultant in Musculoskeletal Pain Medicine with extensive experience and specialist knowledge. He focuses on the non-surgical management of spinal pain and injury, myofascial pain syndromes, sports injuries, CRPS, and neuropathic pain. Dr Halfpenny graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and completed his specialist training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He has held training posts as a lecturer and advanced pain trainee and was awarded the FFPMRCA.
In 2001, Dr Halfpenny took up a consultant post and established multidisciplinary services for pain management within both the NHS and private sectors. He collaborates closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, cognitive psychologists, and personal trainers to provide holistic pain management programmes. His approach includes lifestyle adjustments, exercise, and pain reduction techniques.
A former national-level gymnast in South Africa, Dr Halfpenny has a unique insight into managing pain in both professional and amateur athletes. He has assisted numerous sportsmen and women in returning to competitive sport at international levels. As the clinical lead for the London Orthopaedic Clinic, he is involved in governance and Care Quality Commission roles.
Dr Halfpenny continues to innovate in his clinical practice, offering regular multidisciplinary pain clinics and cutting-edge interventional therapies, including orthobiological treatments like PRP and stem cell therapies. His expertise extends to procedures such as facet joint injections, nerve root injections, and ultrasound-guided interventions. He treats conditions including acute pain, back pain, arthritis, degenerative conditions, and sports injuries.
