Dr Man (Ben) Ko is a Senior Consultant Paediatrician based at Barts NHS Trust and also sees patients privately at The Harley Street Clinic and The Portland Hospital. He has over 20 years' experience as an NHS Consultant, specialising in neurodisability and child development. His areas of expertise include physical and learning disabilities, autism, and a wide range of developmental disorders.
Dr Ko graduated from Edinburgh University and completed further training at prestigious institutions such as Great Ormond Street Hospital London and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. He was previously an Honorary Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital before his current NHS appointment. He holds a Department of Health national level Clinical Excellence Award, a distinction awarded to the top 10% of UK consultants.
His approach is centred on both parents and children, ensuring they make informed decisions with the best possible options. Dr Ko provides robust, evidence-based developmental diagnoses, which many parents find invaluable for choosing interventions and securing support for their children. He has expertise in the medical assessment and management of children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders, having worked with the Motor Disorder Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Dr Ko has held numerous positions at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and is currently an Advisor to the Neurodisability Training Committee. He has also served as a ministerial advisor to the Department of Work and Pensions, contributing to central government policies for disabled children. His clinical interests include paediatric neurodisability, child development, autism, dyspraxia, cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, and the medical management of spasticity and dystonia.
