Dr Ben Huntley is a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at Barking, Havering and Redbridge (BHR) University Hospitals NHS Trust. He specialises in the treatment of whiplash, lower back and neck pain, as well as cancer-related neuropathic and post-surgical pain.
Dr Huntley graduated in medicine from the University of Birmingham, where he was awarded the Arthur Thompson Special Prize for his research. He completed his specialised training in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at the Bristol School of Anaesthesia, earning the Head of School Award for Outstanding Achievement for his community work.
In his current role at BHR University Hospitals NHS Trust, Dr Huntley is responsible for the modernisation of the Pain Service, including the recruitment and development of a Pain Management Programme. He has also collaborated with colleagues in Palliative Care to develop a referral pathway for patients requiring interventional pain treatments for complex cancer pain. Additionally, he has worked with the Haematology team to create a multidisciplinary approach to managing complex pain in patients with sickle cell disease.
Dr Huntley's areas of expertise include facet joint injections, radiofrequency denervations, and pulsed radiofrequency treatments to nerves. He is highly skilled in managing conditions such as back pain, cancer-related neuropathic pain, chronic neck pain, chronic pain, post-surgical pain, and whiplash.
Appointed as a consultant in 2015, Dr Huntley is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to his patients, ensuring they receive the most effective and up-to-date treatments available.
