    Dr Anton Emmanuel is a distinguished academic Neuro-Gastroenterologist at University College London and a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square). He obtained his medical degree from London University and has been serving in his current roles since his appointment.

    Dr Emmanuel's clinical expertise is extensive, encompassing the directorship of the GI Physiology Unit at University College Hospital, where he also provides a comprehensive general gastroenterology service. His areas of specialisation include neuro-gastroenterology, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, colorectal disorders, oesophageal disorders, faecal incontinence, bowel dysfunction, and neurological disease.

    In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Emmanuel is deeply involved in research. His work focuses on basic gut neurophysiology and the aetiology and management of functional gastrointestinal disorders affecting both the upper and lower gut. He currently supervises five post-graduate research fellows who are pursuing higher degrees. His laboratory research is conducted in collaboration with colleagues at University College London.

    Dr Emmanuel is also the Editor of the journal Frontline Gastroenterology, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in his field. His dedication to both patient care and research makes him a leading figure in the field of gastroenterology.
