    Mr Amir Darakhshan is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas' Hospitals, specialising in the management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Pelvic Floor disorders, and Hernia repair. He has a particular expertise in Laparoscopic Surgery, which is a key focus of his sub-specialty work.

    Mr Darakhshan graduated from King’s College Hospital London and received his surgical training in London and the South East of England. He further honed his specialist colorectal skills with training in Sydney, St Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College Hospital, and St Mark’s Hospital in London. During this time, he developed a keen interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Pelvic Floor disorders, and Laparoscopic surgery.

    He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, as well as the Pelvic Floor Society. In 2008, Mr Darakhshan was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) for his thesis and research at the Royal London Hospital, which focused on the use of the Gracilis Neosphincter in the treatment of incontinence. He has also published numerous papers on general surgical, colorectal, and pelvic floor disorders.

    Mr Darakhshan specialises in the management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, including Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, as well as Pelvic Floor disorders. He is proficient in proctology, managing conditions such as haemorrhoids, fissures, pilonidal sinus disease, and complex anal fistulating disease using both traditional and minimally invasive techniques like VAAFT and EPSiT. His areas of expertise also include hernia repair, coloproctology, and endoscopy.
