    About Miss Theresa Freeman-Wang

    Miss Theresa Freeman-Wang is a dedicated consultant gynaecologist at the Whittington Hospital, specialising in cervical screening, colposcopy, and lower genital tract pre-malignancy, including perianal and anal disease. She also has expertise in vulval disorders, menstrual problems, menopause, and post-menopausal bleeding. Miss Freeman-Wang adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, collaborating closely with other health professionals to ensure effective treatment.

    Graduating from Bristol Medical School in 1989, Miss Freeman-Wang undertook elective training in obstetrics and gynaecology at Harvard Medical University and Shanghai Medical University. She joined the Royal Free Hospital in 1991 as a senior house officer, progressing to registrar and research fellow. During her tenure, she conducted significant research on women's anxiety related to cervical pre-malignancy treatment, earning the BMA TP Gunton Research Award.

    In 2002, Miss Freeman-Wang joined the Whittington Hospital, where she currently leads the colposcopy and vulval services. She runs a multizonal clinic for managing women with premalignant changes of the lower genital tract and deputises for the gynaecology oncology unit lead. She has also served as the clinical director for women and children's health. From 2012 to 2021, she chaired the Colposcopy Users Group at Portland Hospital. Additionally, she has been a professional adviser and director for cervical screening across London.

    Miss Freeman-Wang holds prominent positions in several professional organisations. She is the President of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) and the Secretary-General of the International Federation of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy. She also serves as Vice Chair of the National Advisory Committee for cervical screening and is a member of the NHS colposcopy clinical group.

    Her clinical interests extend to the management of vulval disorders, including vulvodynia. She is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease and the British Menopause Society.

    Outside of her professional life, Miss Freeman-Wang enjoys art and medical history, theatre, and boxercise. She is also exploring western and Chinese herbal medicine, although not as a practitioner.
