Dr Teresa Guerrero Urbano is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist and clinical lead for Radiotherapy at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College, London. She is also an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Surrey. Dr Guerrero Urbano specialises in head and neck cancer, non-melanomatous skin cancer, and prostate cancer. She has held senior positions at Royal Surrey County NHS Trust, Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust, and University of Surrey.
Dr Guerrero Urbano completed her oncology training at the Royal Marsden, Royal Surrey County, and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. She earned her PhD from the University of London in 2008. She is a joint Module Leader for the Respiratory, Head and Neck module, MSc in Oncology, at the Institute of Cancer Research. She conducts weekly Oncology Seminars at St Luke's Cancer Centre and monthly lectures at the University of Surrey's post-graduate Medical School.
Her research focuses on the technical and biological aspects of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT). Dr Guerrero Urbano is particularly interested in novel radiation techniques to minimise long-term side effects and the use of chemotherapy and targeted therapy to improve patient outcomes. She has published extensively and presented her research at international conferences. Dr Guerrero Urbano has been in her current role since 2006.
