    Dr Simon Anderson is a Consultant Gastroenterologist primarily based in London at the renowned London Bridge Hospital, as well as Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Alongside a highly experienced team, Dr Anderson's practice involves consultations, diagnosis, and treatment of digestive and stomach diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Crohn’s disease.

    After graduating with a medical degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, in 1990, Dr Anderson ventured to London, where he undertook higher specialist training in Liver Diseases and Intensive Care at King's College Hospital, as well as in Gastroenterology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital. After being awarded a Wellcome Institute Research Fellowship, he conducted full-time research at St Thomas' Hospital. In 2004, the University of London awarded Dr Anderson a Doctorate of Medicine (MD). In 2006, he took up the role of Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he heads up an acute general medicine firm.

    Dr Anderson's key areas of expertise include IBD, all therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy, balloon enteroscopy, and wireless capsule endoscopy. His particular research interests include approaches for diagnosing and treating small-intestinal disease and ulcerative colitis. Most notably, Dr Anderson was the lead investigator on a recent clinical trial investigating the role of exercise in Crohn's disease and is also investigating the role of in IBD.
