Mr Robert Bentley is an esteemed Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon specialising in Craniofacial Surgery. He is based at King's College Hospital and also runs private clinics at The Harley Street Clinic and HCA UK at The Shard. Mr Bentley's practice encompasses both paediatric and adult craniofacial surgery, with a particular focus on congenital and acquired deformities, as well as skull base access work for certain brain tumours.
Mr Bentley graduated from the University of Wales with degrees in Dentistry and Medicine. He then undertook specialised training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. His advanced training includes a Fellowship in Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery at the University of Leipzig in Germany, followed by two further Fellowships in Craniofacial Surgery at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and the Birmingham Children's Hospital. In 2000, he was appointed as a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at King's College Hospital.
Currently, Mr Bentley serves as the Clinical Director for both the Southeast London Major Trauma Network and Major Trauma at King's College Hospital. He is also the Training Programme Director for the South Thames Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon Deanery. Notably, he was one of the first surgeons to perform titanium cranial reconstruction using a single technique with the world's largest single operator, achieving the lowest infection rate.
Mr Bentley's areas of expertise include craniofacial surgery, impacted/infected wisdom teeth removal, orthognathic surgery, and tooth extraction. He treats a variety of conditions such as cleft lip, palate, and other craniofacial abnormalities, congenital craniofacial malformations, and facial trauma.
