About Mr Richard Sinnerton
GMC number: 3196294
Year qualified: 1988
Place of primary qualification: University of London
Mr Richard Sinnerton is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ashtead Hospital in Surrey who specialises in elbow and shoulder surgery. He treats all conditions of the shoulder and elbow including degenerate, traumatic and sports injuries. His clinical interests in the hand include Dupuytren's contracture, trigger finger, and ganglions. He selects the best of the new medical technologies to use, alongside tried and tested traditional techniques to provide the best-tailored answer for each individual's concerns. He has developed a global reputation for using Reverse Geometry Shoulder Replacements to treat some of the most complex and disabling shoulder problems for which, until a few years ago, there was no solution. He teaches other surgeons this technique and recently was invited by a leading orthopaedic journal to write the definitive article on shoulder replacement.
Mr Sinnerton trained as a doctor at St.Thomas' Hospital and as a specialist surgeon at St. Mary's Hospital in London. In 1996 he was selected to spend a year in Nice, France as Fellow to Professor Boileau who is widely recognised as one of the world's leading shoulder experts. It was this relationship that inspired him to become a shoulder surgeon. On returning to the UK he was appointed as a consultant at Ashford/St. Peters Hospital where he set up the very successful Upper Limb Unit.
