    Dr Rama Vancheeswaran is a Consultant Chest and General Physician at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust. She also serves as an Honorary Consultant at the Brompton Hospital, specialising in the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) unit. Dr Vancheeswaran leads the ILD services for the Royal Free group of hospitals and is the ILD lead for the Royal Free group of hospitals.

    As the Lead for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) at the Barnet site, Dr Vancheeswaran runs the Integrated service. Her interests include local provision of COPD and general respiratory services. She is a British Lung Foundation Ambassador, representing the patient's view, and a member of the British Thoracic Society's COPD Specialist Advisory Group. Additionally, she holds the positions of Smoking and Interstitial Lung Disease Lead for both the British Thoracic Society and the Trust.

    Dr Vancheeswaran's previous roles at Barnet include Clinical Director and Associate Medical Director for both Barnet and Chase Farm Trust and Barnet Community Services. She is passionate about patient empowerment, streamlined care, and upholding the founding ideals of the NHS. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Interstitial Lung and Connective Tissue Diseases and an MSc in Immunology. She has an extensive portfolio of research publications focusing on the immunopathology of scleroderma, non-specific interstitial pneumonitis, and COPD, and she continues to lecture on these subjects.
