    Mr Michael Oddy is a consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he has been working since 2009. He also serves as the orthopaedic lead for the diabetic foot service at UCLH. His practice includes all aspects of elective and trauma foot and ankle surgery including fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, arthritis and deformity including bunion and toe problems. He has an active interest in neurological foot problems. He was one among the six specialist foot and ankle surgeons serving the London 2012 Olympics.

    He is qualified in medicine from Christ’s College, University of Cambridge in 1996. He enrolled for an MSc at UCL and was awarded a distinction in 2002 with basic science research into tendons and gait. His orthopaedic training on the St Bartholomew’s hospital Percivall Pott rotation included specialist foot and ankle posts in Norwich and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore before completing a foot and ankle fellowship in Sheffield. He has also completed a paediatric fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

    He regularly contributes to research, teaching and training. He is an Honorary Associate Professor within the UCL Division of Surgery and is actively involved in research being a part of the Institute of Sports, Exercise and Health National Achilles Tendinopathy centre team. He also acts as the principal investigator in trials of grant-funded research into proprioception after limb injury and fractures healing in diabetes. He is the UCL Medical School Year 4 undergraduate module lead for orthopaedics and teaches UCL medical students.
