About Mr Matthew Welck

Mr Welck is a consultant orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon with a focus on adult foot and ankle trauma and elective conditions. He holds a first-class honours with distinction Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree. Mr Welck has completed double fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery, as well as a clinical and research fellowship at the renowned Foot and Ankle Institute in Baltimore, USA.
Currently, Mr Welck serves as an NHS consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He specializes in complex secondary referral foot and ankle problems, often seeing international patients. His areas of expertise include ankle arthritis, ankle replacement, ankle fusion, foot deformity, bunion surgery, and arthritis of the big toe. Mr Welck is highly skilled in performing various surgical procedures, including ankle ligament repair, Achilles tendon repair, ankle fracture fixation, flat foot correction, high arch foot correction, and Plantar Fasciitis surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Welck is actively involved in teaching foot and ankle surgery and convenes several national courses. He also has a significant research background in the field and has presented his work nationally and internationally.
Outside of his professional life, Mr Welck enjoys running, playing the guitar, and spending time with his family and dog.
