    Dr Lieske Kuitert is a well-respected consultant in respiratory medicine. She previously held a consultant NHS post at Bart's Health Trust, where she set up a specialist cough clinic but left in 2015 to focus on private practice. She maintains an honorary consultant status with the Trust.

    Dr Kuitert qualified from Auckland University Medical School in 1982 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree. Following this, she completed an extensive training scheme in respiratory medicine, including a fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 1991. She moved to the UK in 1990 to further her career and completed a PhD degree investigating leukotriene and prostaglandin biology in asthma and cystic fibrosis in 2001.

    Dr Kuitert was appointed as Director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service and Lead for the Regional Bronchiectasis Service. She was also a member of the Trust Antibiotic Review Group for over ten years. Additionally, she helped develop Trust guidelines on the diagnosis and management of DVT and pulmonary emboli.

    Her areas of expertise include cough, asthma, acute and chronic lung infections, and blood clots in the lungs. Dr Kuitert is a member of the British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, American Thoracic Society, Royal College of Physicians, Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and Royal Society of Medicine.

    Dr Kuitert treats a variety of conditions including cough, chest infections, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, breathlessness, pulmonary embolus, emphysema, and tuberculosis. She is also skilled in performing bronchoscopy.
