    Mr Aquilina is a highly esteemed consultant paediatric neurosurgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). He specialises in paediatric neurosurgery with a particular focus on paediatric neuro-oncology and the management of spasticity.

    Mr Aquilina graduated from the University of Malta in 1995. He completed his neurosurgical training in Bristol in 2009, during which he conducted significant research on intraventricular haemorrhage and hydrocephalus in premature babies. This research earned him an MD (Doctor of Medicine) from the University of Bristol. He further honed his expertise with a one-year clinical fellowship in paediatric neurosurgery at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, focusing on paediatric neuro-oncology.

    In 2010, Mr Aquilina was appointed as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Bristol. By June 2012, he had joined GOSH as a Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon. He has a sub-specialty interest in the management of spasticity and was instrumental in establishing the selective dorsal rhizotomy service for cerebral palsy in Bristol. He later collaborated with the Wolfson tertiary neurodisability service to set up a similar service at GOSH.

    Mr Aquilina is dedicated to providing exceptional care to his young patients and is actively involved in advancing neurosurgical techniques and treatments. His areas of expertise include paediatric neuro-oncology, intraventricular haemorrhage, hydrocephalus, and the management of spasticity through selective dorsal rhizotomy.
