Dr Ashish L Shetty is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL) and the Lead Consultant in Pain Management at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). He also serves as the lead for Neuromodulation at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Dr Shetty specialises in spinal cord stimulation for managing complex neuropathic pain conditions, including chronic back, leg, pelvic pain, and headaches.
Dr Shetty completed his training at Cambridge University Hospitals and underwent a clinical fellowship in pain management at Guys & St Thomas Hospital in London. He has collaborated with experts globally and continues to contribute to the field of pain medicine. In recognition of his outstanding performance, he was awarded a clinical excellence award at the House of Lords by the Essex Medical Society.
Dr Shetty holds several prestigious positions, including Chief Medical Officer at Nurokor, Regional Advisor in Pain Medicine at the Royal College of Anaesthesia, and Secretary of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is also a faculty member at UCL's Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery and an International Expert Advisor at Euro Pain Clinics in Slovakia. Additionally, he is a Senior Fellow and Council Member of the London Pain Forum and the Neuromodulation Module Lead for the MSc Programme at UCL.
Dr Shetty's areas of expertise include managing complex headache conditions such as migraines and trigeminal neuralgia, pelvic and visceral pain, and back pain. He is proficient in various pain management procedures, including nerve root injections, caudal epidural injections, facet joint injections, and spinal cord stimulation therapy. His special interests encompass back and spinal pain, chronic neck pain, nerve and neuropathic pain, pelvic and abdominal pain, headaches, and thoracic and chest pain.
