Frequently asked questions
Why do you do what you do?
I have a broad training in all aspects of general surgery and am able to manage most common surgical conditions to a high standard. I particularly enjoy all aspects of laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery as it brings excellent results for patients with faster recovery and fewer complications. My passion is bariatric and metabolic surgery which is life changing for my patients.
What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, gallstone pain, hernias, groin lumps, abscesses, obesity-related problems, appendicitis, lumps and bumps.
What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?
I am pleased to offer minor surgical procedures under local anaesthesia such as lump and bump removal which can be performed in an out patient clinic. Within hospitals, I routinely performed day case general anaesthetic procedures including keyhole hernia repair, cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal), and anti-reflux surgery. As a fully trained Bariatric surgeon, I welcome patient of all body weights. Emergency surgery for painful gallstones, appendicitis, burst ulcers, strangulated hernias and bowel obstruction. I am also able to offer diagnostic gastroscopy / upper gastrointestinal endoscopy
What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?
I am a high-volume Bariatric Surgeon performing in the region of 100 obesity surgical procedures per year. These include Gastric Bypass (Roux En Y and One Anastomosis/Mini Bypass), Sleeve Gastrectomy, Adjustable Gastric Band, Intragastric Balloon and Revision (Redo) Surgery. These operations will provide not just weight loss, but a significant improvement in obesity-related illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
