    Dr Alistair McNair is a consultant gastroenterologist based in South East London. He qualified in 1985 and has been serving as a consultant since 1997. Dr McNair specialises in managing a wide variety of disorders affecting the intestine and liver.

    His areas of expertise include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), coeliac disease, dyspepsia, heartburn (acid reflux), Barrett's oesophagus, abdominal pain, colorectal (bowel) cancer, gastric (stomach) cancer, pancreatic cancer, gallstones, and liver disease.

    Dr McNair is proficient in numerous diagnostic procedures. He performs gastroscopy and transnasal endoscopy for the stomach, capsule endoscopy for the small bowel, and colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy for the large bowel. His therapeutic endoscopic procedures include polypectomy, ERCP, stent insertions, and balloon dilatations.

    Throughout his career, Dr McNair has held several senior management roles. He has served as the clinical director for gastroenterology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, secretary of the endoscopy section of The British Society of Gastroenterology from 2009 to 2012, and regional training programme director. His contributions to research and work for national and regional organisations earned him a Bronze National Award.
