    Frequently asked questions

  • What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?

The most common symptom would be pain, swelling and a loss of function in their normal movement patterns because they're not moving correctly or it's painful on a certain movement. Patients also present when their sports or their hobby is being affected, whether they are a tennis player or a golf player and they are unable to perform to the level they wanted to play at. Or it's affecting performance at work, particularly with back pain or neck pain or shoulder pain.

  • What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?

The first-line treatment is always rehabilitation, which includes strength-based rehabilitation and gym-based programs which are carefully planned, carefully thought out and tailored to a patient's particular injury and their performance needs. These programs vary between injury to injury and body part to the body part. We work very closely with our physiotherapy team and our strength and conditioning team to make sure that the patient's rehabilitation plan is optimised. That's the first and main line of treatment.

The second would be non-invasive therapies such as shockwave therapy and ultrasound therapies.

Moving on from the non-invasive therapies are slightly more invasive therapies such as injection-based therapies, such as steroids, PRP, hyaluronic acid therapy, high-volume injections, among others.

Lastly, if we feel that surgical intervention is appropriate, we'll send you to the right consultant for the right opinion to make sure unnecessary surgery is avoided and making sure the best outcome occurs.

  • What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?

I work in a variety of different sporting fields, including elite football. I work with England men's football and I see a lot of knee injuries, hip and groin injuries, and ankle injuries. I also work with British tennis and I'm used to seeing lots of upper limbs, shoulder, hand and wrist injuries as well, as well as working with elite golfers on the European tour. I cover all body parts at a specialist level.

My particular interest is to do with tendon issues, mainly tendinopathies and overuse injuries.
